What people are saying about Long Street, Cape Town
We purchased a two day ticket prior to leaving the UK, as we wanted to ensure that our time in Cape Town was filled to the brim, with viewing this fantastic corner of South Africa. We used all 3 routes on offer, as well as the tour around The Victoria and Albert Waterfront, in the boat. The buses we used were in a clean and road worthy condition, and were to time. The commentary was excellent, and the equipment top rate. We found all tours interesting, but the Pacific coast, Hout Bay, Camps Bay and Sea Point, were just stunning. An excellent and cheap way to look around the beautiful area of Cape Town.
We booked the premium ticket which allowed travel on all 5 routes plus offered a free harbour or canal boat trip and a guided walking tour. The bus routes take you anywhere you might want to go in and around Capetown including the cable car and botanic gardens, as well as the coastal suburbs. We didn’t need a cab once. Staff were very helpful and buses frequent. We’ve used these hop on/off buses in a number of cities and this was the best so far.
The "hop on, hop off" concept was ideal for getting to tourist spots if you prefer to have someone else do the driving. The commentary along the way was both relevant and interesting, and provided in several languages. Beware of waiting times for key attractions during the busy season, and plan your day accordingly (in our case, the cable up Table Mountain).
This was our first hop-on/hop-off tour, and it was a great experience. I appreciated the good sound quality of the recording, and all of the details about the city. We took advantage of the flexibility and hopped off at both Table Mountain and Camp Bay, and rode it part way back to our hotel!
Great way to see the city & surrounding areas - would definitely recommend. Could only be improved with learning more about the city and there being a bit less of "City sightseeing" trying to sell you other affiliated trips / tours on the audio.
