Full description

Established in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. It has been remodeled by a succession of kings and queens, including Henry II, Charles II, and George IV. Your ticket provides admission to the Castle, including the magnificent State Apartments, which are furnished with some of the finest treasures from the royal collection.

Among the masterpieces are paintings by Holbein, Rubens, and Van Dyck, as well as fine English and French furniture. During the winter months, the sumptuous private apartments created by George IV, known as the Semi-State Rooms, are added to the visitor route. Your admission also includes access to St. George's Chapel (except on Sundays). This is one of the most beautiful ecclesiastical buildings in England, and is the final resting place for 10 monarchs, including Henry VIII and Charles I. There is a lot to see and do at Windsor Castle, so please allow enough time to make the most of your visit, which is likely to last between 2.5 and 3 hours. The Castle is situated at the top of a steep hill, and the visitor route covers long distances, so comfortable shoes are advised.

I don’t normally sign up for organized tours however was happy that we opted in for the Edinburgh Castle tour! Our tour guide Melanie was very knowledgeable about the Castle and Scottish history. It was obvious she was passionate about the subject which kept the group’s interest. Tours can be boring but this one was not. I would highly recommend Scotland City Tours.

Very good- busy as Easter Saturday so half hour queue for both St George’s chapel and dolls house but was much longer later in the day Absolutely all staff were impeccably well dressed and friendly and extremely helpful. Impressed by the audio guide which showed before and after the terrible fire in 92- the renovation is amazing .

Buying your tickets on line is the best way to beat the crowds. We had booked our ticket for 10am and on the dot of 10am we went straight through, no waiting in line. We had caught the train from Waterloo Station ( nice train ride through the country side) walked up the hill to the castle and the ladies in red capes directed us to the ticket office. The castle and grounds are beautiful not to be missed.
