Our tour of the Tower of London was absolutely incredible. It was a freezing, wet & windy, very early morning, and I admit, I did consider staying in the hotel when we woke up last Tuesday morning. I am so very grateful that my excitement for being in London got me out of bed & on our way to one of the most amazing tours I have taken anywhere in the world. Our wonderful tour guide was Jane, and her knowledge of English history was quite honestly extraordinary. For 3 hours she took us from the outside of the Tower, to inside, and weaved a tour of Royal Kings & Queens, foreign & British historical figures, through their loves, betrothals, beheadings, executions, wealth, humilities, the battle of Catholics & Protestants, Accessions, Marriages, Illnesses, Deaths and happiness. We ended our tour with the breathtaking Crown Jewels, Coronation Robes and Regalia, that were used during the Coronation of King Charles III. Thank you SO very much Jane, you were simply extraordinary.
I did most of the popular things to do in London, and this was by far the best one. Walking up the stairs and reading about the people involved in designing and constructing the bridge was very interesting. The view over the water of London is amazing, watching the videos played on the screen and seeing the tools involved in creating the bridge was a good touch. The engine rooms were also good, and the prices in the gift shop were a lot cheaper than all the other gift shops I went to, which was a bonus.
