Full description

Meet your guide at the entrance to Westminster Abbey at 09:15 AM, and then look inside the historic monument to stand in the footsteps of kings and queens.

Since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066, all coronations of English and British monarchs have been held in the abbey, as have many royal weddings, including that of Prince William to Kate Middleton in 2011. Then, take a panoramic tour around the Houses of Parliament and pass the Elizabeth Tower where the famous Big Ben bell chimes every quarter hour. Learn about the role of MPs who sit in the House of Commons and the function of the House of Lords.

Hear how, and why, the Elizabeth Tower and its great clock and iconic bell were built. For a more complete experience, select the option that includes the ticket to the Parliament and get an audio-guided tour inside the building.  Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, the Palace of Westminster (the official name of the Houses of Parliament) boasts an ostentatious façade with golden spires and statues of kings that reflect in the River Thames.

Listen as your guide explains the history of the building, from the first medieval clock tower built in the old Palace of Westminster, to the design and construction of the present Elizabeth Tower.

Tour organized by an English guide (Jane) who is very knowledgeable and informed, as well as friendly and attentive to everyone, which begins on the route between the Abbey and the Parliament. Inside the Hall of Westminster we received an audio guide that was the best of my entire journey in European museums: step by step with easily accessible information. Very interesting place because it combines the history with the current political day to day of the United Kingdom. A must visit for history buffs!

Sue was an exceptional guide. She was well versed in the history of the palace, important areas to view and the numerous luminaries residing in West Minister Abby for all eternity. It was gratifying to visit this historic place in close proximity to the Queen’s funeral. To walk in places QEII frequented across the span of her life from wedding to funeral. To experience the enormity of the treasures residing there - all unseen from televised views of the main isle shown in important State events. Sue guided our outside tour of Parliament - which was closed for inside tours during our time in London. Again, Sue made the visit educational and interesting! I highly recommend Get Your Guide and the individuals providing services on its behalf.

While the tour had to be rescheduled due to an official abbey event, the company notified us promptly and the tour guides did a great job locating everyone in the group even with the chaos of the crowds. Our guide was Richard, and he was fantastic. Lines were extremely long since the abbey had to push everyone back several hours, but he gave us a lot of historical background while we were in the queue. During the tour he took us to all the highlights and gave us all the history in a super interesting “story”-like manner. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide and tour experience to end our trip with! He was wonderful.
