Full description
Take a sightseeing tour that shows you London's famous landmarks such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament before a tour of the Tower of London and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Arriving at the Tower of London built in 1066 by William the Conqueror, your guide will regale you with fascinating insights into the history of this Royal Palace and fortress. Ample time will be given to view the Crown Jewels and the White Tower and to wander around this imposing fortress. The next stop on your full-day tour is The Mall to watch the Changing of the Guard, as one of the Queen’s Foot Guard Regiments marches from St. James’s Palace to Buckingham Palace, dressed in their world famous tunics and busbies. * You’ll take an extended private cruise on the River Thames and have excellent views of St. Paul's Cathedral and Shakespeare's Globe. After free time for lunch, tour St. Paul's Cathedral, the 17th-century masterpiece designed by Christopher Wren. Listen to the sound of the 1695 organ that Mendelssohn once played and visit the tombs of Nelson and Wellington. On Sundays, when there is restricted viewing at the Cathedral, enter and observe one of the services. You’ll finish your tour near South Bank, with the rest of the afternoon to browse and shop at your leisure. *If the Changing of the Guard is not taking place you will still see Buckingham Palace.

Good, just a couple of annoying issues

We were told to be at Victoria Coach Station at 7.30am but we need not have arrived until 8am as we were kept hanging around. When they called out the tours they did not mention ours and we would have missed it if we hadn't asked about it. What was more annoying was that we were dropped near St. Paul's for lunch, which is a catering wasteland and seems to offer nothing but tatty fast food cafés or astronomically priced restaurants, and few toilets. We were not told upon entering St Paul's that the whispering gallery was not included in the price and that tickets had to be purchased near the entrance, so we had to dash back to get them, and only had 30 mins to climb up to the upper galleries and look round the rest of the cathedral. Other than that, our guide Carol was very good and if it hadn't been bitterly cold and pouring with rain we would have thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

A great way to see London when you only have one day to do it.

Everything went like clockwork. The pick-up from near where we were staying was great. The tour was great. The leader was very aware of our safety and was very knowledgeable. At times it was a bit rushed, but we saw lots in the allotted time. It would have been good to have a couple more photo stops of key London monuments or buildings, especially The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, but overall it was great. We still talk about some of the highlights.

Fantastic tour guide, just made this tour

We loved the tour, we saw everything we were supposed to, but the day was one we will never forget & we will cherish forever...we were blessed to get the worlds best tour guide - David was just wonderful! A wealth of knowledge, loads of energy, a great sense of humor, and the best explanations of historical events I ve ever heard...some may think he was opionionated, and may feel he pushed his political & religious ideas, but I found it to be fantastic to have someone who was passionate and who gave another perspective on the world...I may not have the same views, but really, who cares...I could have listened to David's views all year long....loved it, be sure to ask to go on David's tour - but come with an open mind, if you do, you won't be disappointed! A special mention to Leon the bus driver...he kept us on time and got us to where we needed to be all day!
