The morning rain soon cleared by the time we arrived at Leeds Castle with lively and interesting commentary throughout all the day by Sue and careful driving by Cheryl. With it being dark by the time we got to Greenwich, for the return boat trip, the cruise was even more enjoyable with the lights of the riverside buildings and historic sites illuminated! Sue ensured everybody knew how to get back to their accommodations before she parted with the 'multi-international' speaking group. My only complaint was that the map I was sent with my booking confirmation, 'supposedly' detailing where the coach was to pick me up, left me waiting for half an hour at 7.30am on a cold morning in the wrong place!! At 8am, with nobody else waiting, I ask two Megabus workers if I was definitely in the right place and they advised me the Golden Tours pick-up place was undercover in the middle of a building much further down the road. As a Stroke sufferer, I didn't appreciate this extra last-minute rush!
Leeds castle was very nice. The time allotted was ok because it was raining. Had it been nicer, I may have wanted to walk the grounds a little more! Battle grounds was more than enough time. If I’m honest and would have known, I would have skipped this and the boat ride and stayed longer in Canterbury. Cathedral would have been where I spent way more time. The town was full of cute shops and restaurants. I am glad we packed a breakfast, lunch and snacks because we would not have had time to stop and I was traveling with an 8 year old. Tour guide Morton was very good and I didn’t have any pounds to leave him in cash. Venmo or a cash app option would be a good idea to offer so I could have left a tip. Lastly, A few more pick up options. We were staying by tower bridge and I met the bus on the other side of town and then drove back past the bridge to leave town. We figured it out on the way back and ended the tour at the bridge so that was good!
