Full description
You head northwest out of London, passing through the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The picturesque countryside here has inspired the television shows Midsomer Murders and Vicar of Dibley. Your first stop is Oxford, where you have time to explore the precincts of the many colleges, climb to the vantage points to admire the skyline, or see the art and antiquities collections in the Ashmolean Museum. You stop in Burford, the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’. This is a small market town with enormous character and depth. The main street is lined with all those quaint properties that you’ve dreamt of owning. You have time here to take in the local charm and hospitality; and if you’re hungry, you can try a traditional English ‘Afternoon Tea’. Then, you make the short journey to Bibury. This place was described by William Morris as the prettiest village in England, and Henry Ford wanted to dismantle it and ship it back to the USA. You have time here to stroll to the famous and fairytale-like Arlington Row. After a full day exploring the city of Oxford and the villages of the Cotswolds, you embark on the comfortable return journey to London. This route may be reversed on some occasions.

Fantastic trip! Our driver was very knowledgeable and provided a detailed (and concise) background for each location we visited. He also pointed out the must see spots for each location as well as where to find the best food and toilets. He made the day trip exceptional.

I made a reservation the day before. The driver of the small bus will tell you about the sights and attractions as he drives around. It would have been more fun if I knew a little more English. At first I had about two and a half hours of free time in Oxford. We were given a handmade map by our guide, and if we followed the guide, we could see most of the sights. We also had a relaxing lunch here. Next we went to Burford in the Cotswolds. There are shops lined up along the street here. We have a little over an hour here, so I think it would be a good idea to have tea time at the cafe. I had too much time just to look at the store. The public toilet was £0.20, but it was a bit bad, so I think it would be better to go to a cafe and rent one for a cup of tea. Next is Bibury. It took about 30 minutes, but I think it was just enough for a leisurely walk around. These are the three locations above. It was nice to be able to watch at a leisurely pace without having to rush anywhere. My wish was to go to a different village instead of Burford.

The transportation was comfortable. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall it was around 9 hours with a lot of riding and little time to see the places we came to see: Burford, Bibury and Oxford. At Burford there was only time to have a quick bite to eat and get back on the vehicle. The stop at Oxford gave time to walk through the town. There were no tickets available to go inside Christ Church, but there would not be enough time to see it. From the outside the chuch was beautiful.
