Full description

Escape the bustle of London on a full-day sightseeing tour of the English countryside. You will head to the Garden of England, with visits to Kent’s Leeds Castle, the White Cliffs of Dover, and Canterbury Cathedral. The journey takes you over the Greenwich Meridian and past the London district that is home to the famous Cutty Sark tea clipper, and the Royal Observatory. Then see Leeds Castle, described by Lord Conway as “the loveliest castle in the world.”

Set in the middle of a lake, and surrounded by 500 acres of parkland and gardens, enter the castle before the doors open to the public, and experience its magic in an atmosphere of still tranquility. Have time to explore the castle grounds and find the Lady Baillie Garden, with views over the lake. Next, make your way to Canterbury and visit the historic Canterbury Cathedral. The most important Anglican church in the world, the central Bell Harry Tower dates back to 1498, and the crypt is from the 11th-Century.

Your guide will tell the story of the shocking murder of Archbishop Thomas Beckett in 1170, and there will also be time to explore the narrow streets of Canterbury, with an opportunity to stop for lunch. Continue your tour through the picturesque landscape of Kent, dotted with unusual buildings and quaint villages. Arrive at Dover, to see the famous White Cliffs, standing 400 feet above sea level. Brooding above the cliffs is the sprawling Dover Castle, still watching over the town after 800 years.

Our guide, Rowen, was the highlight of this trip - very friendly and made history enjoyable. Some of the castle docents were knowledgeable and anxious to share, but you have to ask questions because they don’t offer information freely. Canterbury Castle (and town) are very charming. Our headsets didn’t work well, so we only heard static most of the time. Would have been better if the equipment worked better. Be forewarned that you do not go up to the top of the cliffs of Dover. The bus stops at a beach that is a good distance away, so if you’re looking for amazing pictures, this is not the tour for that. With a little extra time (tour listed as 10 hours, we were back in 9) at the sites and more guiding by Rowen, this trip would be amazing. Beautiful locations!

This tour was perfect for my adult daughter, husband and myself. Our guide was so informative and gave us lots of great information on the bus ride to Canterbury. She was funny, informative, and very kind. Her knowledge of Canterbury Cathedral was really helpful for us to truly appreciate the history. The castle was a fun trip for those of us from the US who don’t see castles on our countryside. The bus was super clean and comfortable for us weary travelers who were able to sneak in a nap on the way home. I would definitely recommend this tour.

The overall trip was great. Our guide and driver were just absolutely lovely. We had enough time at each spot without feeling rushed. The only thing was at Dover we were down below on the channel and I though we were going to be up On the platform of the cliffs.
