Full description
Make your way to the Cutty Sark experience, part of the Royal Museums Greenwich complex, and climb aboard the sole surviving tea clipper, celebrated for her great voyages around the world. Initially built for the China tea trade and launched in 1869, the Cutty Sark’s original wooden planks and iron frames have been meticulously conserved. An ambitious 6-year conservation project saw the ship raised over 3 meters from the ground, giving visitors the unique opportunity to stand directly underneath this miracle of the oceans and observe her elegant lines and ground-breaking design. The Cutty Sark has now been developed into an award-winning museum and visitor experience, and your entrance ticket will allow you to explore her in full. Discover what life was like on board a true survivor of the seas, see the sailors' quarters and take the helm at the ship's wheel.

I had not visited the CS for nearly 60 years, and the experience has certainly changed for the better. Now the history of the ship and personalities who manned it are much more to the fore and the (frankly rather tedious) display of figureheads relocated to the prow in the dry dock. Excellent experience...but do choose a sunny day. Slithering about on the main deck might be atmospheric and in keeping with conditions in the Southern Ocean, but would not be everyone's idea of fun!

Having purchased my tickets online had to go to kiosk to send code via given email. This was the only downside poor internet stopped this from happening. Lady behind the counter was so helpful didn't panic. Saw I had my vouchers gave me my tickets anyway. Told me to try to send email throughout the visit as Internet in the shop was poor. Tried several times. Went back to kiosk after my visit lady took my codes wrote them down entered them manually. Problem solved. Cafe in basement only took card payments thankfully took our own food to eat in the picnic area.

I thought this was a great attraction for both young and old alike. It was a really interesting experience with different mediums of information, visual, auditory and sensory. Myself and my friend easily spent a couple of hours touring around the Cutty Sark and there is a cafe and a gift shop too. All in all a wonderful visit. The Thames foot tunnel is next to the Cutty Sark which is also quite fascinating in itself, having been built in 1902 although I had never heard of it before!
