I went on this kayak trip on October 18th. It was a clear sky with very calm water. Kayaking beneath the walls of Dubrovnik was an amazing sight and one that you otherwise don't get unless you're out on the water. Kayaking along he cliffs and then around Lokrum island was a nice 3hour trip. I'm in my 30's and would consider myself somewhere between a beginner and an intermediate kayaker. I found this trip to be a comfortable workout, but depending on your experience and especially the weather, this may be different for others. My guide was from Adventure Dubrovnik and her name is Tonka. She was a SUPERB guide! Extremely knowledgeable. Out of the 3 hours on the trip, we spent at least 2.5 hours talking about the history, geography, wine, and culinary traditions of Croatia as we paddled. I love all of those subjects and Tonka was willing to indulge my curiosity. That was probably the best part - learning so much while kayaking in a beautiful place.
If you're looking for a different way to experience Dubrovnik and love a bit of activity rather than just reading a guide book, then this is the trip for you. My husband & I chose a very hot day to escape the city. The guides from the very beginning were helpful, especially as we were complete kayak novices. This trip had everything, a bit of activity, but not too much, wonderful views, interesting facts from our guides, cooling sea, rest stops with the ability to swim (but for my non swimmer husband, it wasn't required) - they even threw in a nice lunch! I think it was a really good duration too - long enough to feel like you'd got good value for money & actually achieved something, but not so much you were exhausted. Honestly I loved it so much I'd definitely go again. I didn't see anyone in our group who didn't enjoy themselves and it was all very well organised and easy for us.
Paulo was a fantastic guide - friendly and informative. He shared all sorts of interesting information about the history of Dubrovnik and about his life as an island-resident. The boat was beautiful - New and immaculately clean, obviously well-loved! Our 5.30pm cruise was quiet, not too hot and just the right length to enjoy a sundowner and learn about this amazing country and it’s folk. You may think it’s expensive when there are just 2 people but it’s worth every penny & we thoroughly recommend it.
Sea kayaking at sunset was a highlight of our trip in Dubrovnik. A must-do. Not only was the experience a lot of fun, but kayaking was a great way to see a different side of the city (plus an unreal sunset!) Our guide, Theo, was very helpful and kind. He also struck a good balance between having a good time and being safe. Thanks for the adventure, Theo!
Wonderful tour of the Dubrovnik coast, from the water. Clean boat, with friendly knowledgeable captain, and any amenities you might want (music, refreshments, blanket). Great tidbits and info about Dubrovnik and Croatia were provided by the captain, which I only heard here. Great communication leading up to the tour, as well. Highly recommend!
