The experience was a pleasant surprise. The history of the castle was very interesting and there was a good video with english subtitles about it. There are many rooms to discover, I recommend having a brief look at the map of the castle so you dont miss anything. The staircase was my favourite and the beautiful views of the gardens from the upper balcony.

Witness the well-known architecture which is imbued with the spirit of Leonardo da Vinci. Check out the 400 rooms, more than 80 staircases, 365 fireplaces, and an exceptional number of towers, high ceilings, pointed domes, and graceful pinnacles.

  • There is a designated visit route through the castle with a separate entry and exit
  • Last access is 30 min before the castle closes
  • The formal gardens close 30 min before the castle
  • Entrance to the castle and gardens in French is free for:
  • - under 18s with family accompanied by an adult on an individual visit (upon presentation of an identity document).
  • - European Union nationals under 26 on an individual visit (upon presentation of an identity document and a European Union residence permit)
  • -entrance is free from November to February for 6-17 year olds and 18-25 year olds in the European Union. From March to October, a reservation fee of €3 per person applies for these two categories mentioned
  • Pay for parking upon arrival at automatic terminals located in the car parks (single rate for motorcycles and light vehicles); Allow 10 minutes' walk between the car parks and the entrance to the castle. There may be delays due to security checks carried out at the entrance to the castle.
