3. Svolvær: Luxury Lofoten Islands TrollFjord Cruise with Lunch
This five-hour cruise is a scenic tour through the open sea of Vestfjord, into the narrow inlet of Raftsundet and all the way inside Trollfjord. The route is spectacular due to its steep-sided mountains, plentiful sea eagle and whale sightings, and absence of roads. Remote areas, like Trollfjord, are only accessible by boat which ensures this wild and magic place can be preserved for years to come.
This sailing adventure is a great option for small groups, families or couples who want a private tour to immerse themselves in nature while getting a chance to go to one of the most unique fjords in the Lofoten Islands.
We depart Svolvær harbor, the main town of the Lofoten Islands. As we cruise Lofoten and out to Vestfjorden, watch for orca, porpoise and humpback whales.
Once inside the inlet of Raftsundet, you’ll feel the immensity of the surrounding landscape. This 25 km strait connects the Vestfjorden in the south to the Hadselfjorden in the north. As we set our course to Trollfjord, you might find yourself in awe.
Trollfjord is a very narrow fjord, just 100m wide at its opening. It is also a short fjord, just 1km long. With towering 1000m mountains rising straight up from the sea, the dramatic landscape will have you at a loss for words. Once through the narrow opening, the fjord opens up providing 360 degrees views.
Depending on the time of the year, this stunning fjord may be fringed with snow-capped mountains, awash with sunlight and waterfalls or even blanketed with Northern lights. Sit back in the top deck lounge, take a deep breath and enjoy the scenery and silence.
Your local guides will share the history and culture of the local sites as you pass by. Northern Norway, known as Nord Norge, has a unique history - a special combination of geology, 10,000+ years of human inhabitants blending Norse and Sami culture. This is what sets this region apart from the rest of Norway.
On our luxury fjord cruise, you’ll also have the opportunity to taste a traditional slow-cooked reindeer stew. The return cruise is casual with time for eating, soaking in the sights and photography. As your Lofoten adventure comes to a close, we slide back into the Svolvær harbor. You can now say you’ve visited Lofoten and fully experienced Trollfjord, one of the best places in Lofoten.
