Full description
You will start your small-group tour with a pickup from your central Ljubljana hotel, and depart for Lake Bled in an air-conditioned minivan. On the 1-hour journey, you can admire rural Slovenia and listen as your guide describes the glacier-formed lake and the legends that surround Bled Island, the church-topped islet in its center. On arrival, you can drink in the views of the lake and towering mountains, and gaze up at medieval Bled Castle, the fortress perched high on a cliff above the water. Then, you will ride a two-oared pletna to the island and enjoy free time to explore, visit the Church of the Assumption of Mary or sample some scrumptious potica at the island cafe. Next, you will be driven up to Bled Castle and can delve inside the red-turreted fortress. Absorb the bird's-eye views of the lakes from the walls and visit the museum to chart the castle’s story from its roots in the 11th century. You will then return to the lakeside for free time to walk around, and if you wish, sample a local specialty, kremšnita vanilla cream cake. Then, after a break for lunch, travel onward to your next stop, Predjama Castle. You can marvel at this remarkable cliffside castle and hear how it was extended through the centuries after being built in 1202. Then, you can choose either to explore its stairways and chambers on your own, or with a guide. Lastly, you will continue to nearby Postojna Cave, Slovenia’s most-visited tourist attraction. Ride the mini-train into the depths of this subterranean network and then follow a guide through its eerie caverns. Ogle the bizarre stalactites, stalagmites, and rock formations and hear tales of how the caves were created and the rare amphibians that live in its underground rivers — the blind salamanders known as 'human fish.' Then, return to your minivan and end your tour in Ljubljana, with a drop-off at your hotel.

Our trip to Bled was perfect! I wish I remembered our guide's name but she was amazing. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We got so lucky as the weather was great. It was sunny for us and it had shown rain days prior. It could not have been more of a perfect day. The Caves were GREAT!!!! So beautiful! I have to mention, due to Corona, we pretty much had minimal tourists in all the spots we had visited. I doubt it would be that way next time so we were VERY LUCKY to have experienced these wonderful sites the way we had. Highly recommended!!!!

It is a very complete tour. The pity is that in winter it gets dark very soon, but still, it gave us time to enjoy the treasures of this small country. Karin, from Slovenia Explorer, is a great guide. Attentive, without overwhelming you, it gives you freedom to move around without feeling that you are in a group, which was also only five people, counting on us. Highly recommended.

    We recommend!!

Punctual and hotel-related pick-up. Drive to Lake Bled. There a boat trip to the island and back. Then visit the castle. Then stay at the lake (it would be longer time should spend 2-3 days at the place Bled, very worth seeing) there lunch at own expense. Then drive to the Postojna cave. There, take the train in and out of the cave. Approximately 1 hour tour through the cave, with a tour guide, but a very large group. Then to Predjama Castle. You can then explore it yourself with the audio guide in many available languages. All in all you can see a lot of Slovenia on this day. The tour guide himself tells a lot about Slovenia itself during the trip and answers all questions.
