Full description
You cannot go wrong if you choose this guided walk around the historical city center combined with a visit to Ljubljana Castle. It includes all of Ljubljana's major sights and offers an insight into numerous interesting stories about life in Ljubljana from the past and present. The tour begins in front of the Town Hall, a building with a rich history now used as the seat of the City Municipality of Ljubljana. From the Town Hall and the Robba Fountain in front of it you will go on a walk around the historical city center during which you will learn about the history of all the city's major sights. The walk will take you across the Cobblers' Bridge and past the National and University Library and the Križanke Summer Theater to the Kongresni trg Square from where you will continue to Prešernov trg Square dominated by the Franciscan Church and connected to the Triple Bridge. Then, head further on to Plečnik's Market and the cathedral. Just a short walk from there is the bottom station of Ljubljana's funicular railway, which wil whisk you up 70 vertical meters in just a minute and bring you to Ljubljana Castle, the city's most prominent sight. The castle's outlook tower offers the most beautiful views of the city, while its interior houses several museum displays and other exhibitions including, among others, 'Slovenian History,' 'The Prison' and 'Virtual Castle.'

Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke quickly, so we got a lot of extra info in! We learned all about the architecture of Ljubljana and it’s influences. The ride up to the castle was so cool! And the castle was nice inside and had a bit of info to read but most things in the castle require additional payments.

A day of intense rain unfortunately ... the visit was difficult but certainly not the fault of the guide but of the climatic conditions. The guide (Andrei if I remember the name correctly) was really nice and flexible towards us (Italians with guided tour in English ...). A praise to his sympathy and his ability to relate with us even in our language even if he was not required to do so ... The visit is interesting and full of notions and anecdotes about the history, habits and customs of Ljubljana and Slovenia . More than a visit dedicated to the monuments, it was a visit dedicated to the history and customs of the country. A guided tour, perhaps different from the usual, but no less interesting and pleasant. We certainly now have a more complete view of Slovenian customs, history and way of life. Andrei thank you for your sympathy and your jokes in perfect Italian. Thank you!

Tour entirely in Italian (we expected it to be in English, but at the last we were assigned to a group of Italians, so ask when you are there). We found ourselves in front of the Ljubljana tourist office. Our guide Alan was very nice and good at explaining the different aspects of the various stages of the tour. Recommended for those like us who have only one day to see the city, the tour is an excellent synthesis.
