Our guide was easy going and very knowledgeable. She was well prepared for children (we had our 8 and 10 yo kids with us). The drive was comfortable and timing unhurried. Piran is a beautiful historic seaside town with a lot of interest. We also drove through neighbouring seaside towns as our guide gave us insight into the history of the area. Lipica is interesting if you enjoy horses (which I do) but I still think Piran and the associated commentary was the highlight.

Great tour! Ended up just being the two in our party as no one else had booked. Fantastic day with “Basil”, with plenty of time in Lipica and Piran, plus some wonderful stops for local food and drink. It felt more like hanging out with a friend than a tour. The horses and city are beautiful and it was a great way to get a taste of a lovely area. I’d love to go back and stay longer.

Our guide "Sigismund" picked us up at the hotel on time. Since there were only two of us, the route could be designed individually. First he showed us the karst landscapes before we drove to the sea in Piran. There he accompanied us through the town and to the city wall. There was enough free time to go out and have lunch on your own. Then we went to Isola at our request. Via Italy (Trieste), which is within sight, we went to Lipica to visit the famous stud farm. We were brought back to the hotel around 7 p.m. The excursion showed some aspects of Slovenia. Later I read in the travel guide that Sigismund hadn't mentioned all the sights of Piran / Lipica. It's also a shame that we couldn't attend a "show" by the Lipizzaner horses! The "guide" was very friendly and had a lot to tell. All in all, a good opportunity to see some parts of the country and get a taste for another stay!
