From Ljubljana: Skočjan Caves Half-Day Trip

8. From Ljubljana: Skočjan Caves Half-Day Trip

The Škocjan Caves are a unique natural phenomenon, created by the Reka River. The Reka River springs below the Snežnik plateau and flows for 55 kilometers (34 miles) on the surface. After reaching the karst — that is, the limestone surface — the river not only deepens its riverbed through erosion but also corrosion; it dissolves the limestone and creates the caves. Explore the Škocjan Caves with a local, English-speaking guide on this half-day trip from Ljubljana. Get picked up at your hotel or guesthouse at 8:30 AM, then drive to the caves as your guide informs you about Slovenia. Upon arrival at around 9:30 AM, your guide will help you to buy the tickets to enter the cave. At 10 AM, begin your tour of the caves, spending around 1 hour and 45 minutes inside. Marvel at how big the caves are and learn all about the things you see. Make sure to dress warmly as the constant temperature in the caves is between 8–10ºC (46–50ºF). After your tour, you can eat something at the restaurant near the ticket counter if you wish. Finally, get back in your vehicle at 12 PM and return to Ljubljana. The tour concludes with drop-off at your original pickup point at approximately 1 PM.

lovely day trip in stunning Slovenia We took the day tour from Ljubljana to Bled, Postojna, and Predjama , we were amazed by the beauty of these places especially the cave We felt Nani was a nice guide who was well informed about the area's history and who truly cared that we have the best experience possible. The only thing we regret is that our brief visit prevented us from joining her on a second trip, but we will definitely recommend this one to our friends

We visited places that we can confidently recommend to everyone. The beautiful Postojna Cave, but also the Predjama Castle, after which we did not expect too much, and surprised us very positively. A beautifully told story with an audioguide. In addition, our guide Vladimir really "made" us the whole trip. He was very nice, willing to talk about Slovenia, and with a good sense of humor. It was great to listen to. Thank you!

The guide/driver was punctual and attentive and he provided useful information. The Postojna Caves were spectacular !! I was apprehensive to be underground for that long but I was so captivated that I completely forgot my phobia. The Predjama Castle was a bit anti-climatic but still very interesting and worthwhile. Don't miss the Gibanica dessert served at the nearby restaurant, Gostilna Požar Restaurant.

The guide was very attentive, and the driving and guidance were very smooth. There was also consideration for my daughter, and it was a very satisfying trip. I think it would be difficult to fully enjoy Ljubljana in one day by bus, so I highly recommend it!

We had an excellent friendly guide Karen who was so good at her job. Very interesting, informative and this lady couldn't help us enough.
