Full description
Away from the usual mass tourism neighborhoods, you will spend your time in Campo de Ourique with a guide that actually lives in the neighborhood and knows it by heart. This tour is intended to be a foodie tour for you to taste typical Portuguese cuisine. Throughout the tour, your guide will link Portuguese culture and history with its cuisine, and explain the origin of these traditional dishes.   Over the course of 3-4 hours, you will sample typical dishes of Portuguese cuisine.  You will start to tantalize your taste buds with the most typical entrees in different locations in this neighborhood. Come and find out which they are. From here, you will go to the local, completely refurbished market place, where you'll have your more 'refined' experiences. Among them, you will taste the typical porco preto (Iberian black pork), the bife de atum (grilled tuna steak), and others. To wrap things up, you will have the Best Chocolate Cake in the World, the pastel de nata (it actually won the international contest), in a bakery elected for several years as the best in Portugal. Taste also some lovely roasted almonds, ending with a Ginjinha (cherry liqueur), which won the international 2016 “Great Taste” Award.

Very good food, great information, the time flew by. You get a taste of life in a Lisbon neighborhood. A great experience that my kids 16 and 18 and I will always remember fondly. Lots of tips for other experiences in Lisbon. Many thanks to Joao and best regards Swantje, Rieke and Hendrik

This evening was a great end to our trip to Lisbon. Our guide João was super nice and took great care of the three of us. We tasted various delicious Portuguese dishes and wine in a local market hall far from the tourist hustle and bustle. The evening was rounded off with an extraordinarily delicious chocolate cake and a selection of nuts directly from the market stall. That evening we clearly felt that our guide João knows and loves his country and its cuisine. We will certainly be talking about this evening and the talks and information about Portugal for a long time to come. I definitely recommend this tour and would do it again anytime. Obrigada

An EXCEPTIONAL visit! Rodrigo is a passionate and exciting guide! Lovers of his country and who knows how to transmit this love! Rodrigo is one of the best guides I have met in my life, mixing knowledge, kindness and benevolence. Visit at the top of a gastronomic point of view, generous and gourmet! We really discover Portuguese gastronomy! We are in a district far from the tourist crowds and which corresponds to the daily life of the Portuguese! I recommend this great experience! And thank you again Rodrigo!
