We had a very interesting day with Paulo who is a wealth of information. Nothing was too much and he was happy to discuss any and all subjects relating to Portugal past and present. We packed a lot into the day but did not feel rushed. We visited places off the beaten track that we would otherwise not know about which added to the experience. Paulo gave us tips about reaching other places we planned to visit and followed up with information by email after our tour. This was such a rewarding tour I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Lisbon.

Full description

Discover the beauty of Portugal on a private guided tour from Lisbon. Drive through Estremadura Province to Óbidos, the town of queens. Experience a tour through the picturesque town, which is surrounded by a well-preserved wall. Try the famous cherry liqueur “Ginginha” and then keep exploring the city on your own. You will then discover the beautiful scenery of Peniche. See the beautiful fishing town with a population of 30,000, where the locals still earn their living by fishing. Here you will find many restaurants and cafes with a wide range of fresh fish and seafood. On the way to the next highlight, marvel at the mysterious rock formation at Cabo Carvoeiro. Continue on to Mafra through the hilly landscape of the west coast. See from the outside the Mafra National Palace, which has inspired many Portuguese writers. Visit the imposing church and admire the 4,500 windows and doors as well as a carillon with 114 bells. You can then enjoy a short break, stroll through the nearby park, or sample pastries in one of the cafes. You then continue on to Sintra, where you can enjoy some free time.

My son and I pre-booked this day tour for our Boxing Day treat whilst staying in Lisbon. Paulo arrived spot on time at our hotel and off we went in our luxury chauffeur driven car. The places we visited are packed full of history - who knew Portugal had such rich treasures. Our tour guide for the day is a virtual encyclopedia of wondrous information. Thanks Paulo, you made our guided tour very special. I learned more in one day about Portugal's Kings, Queens, monuments, castles, medieval walled cities, crops, crime, wine and so much more. I must say one of my favourite stops was at the Obidos shop where you are served the traditional Cherry liquor, Ginja, in a chocolate cup. But wait - you even get a choice of white chocolate or dark chocolate flavoured cup. Delicious and very warming on such a cold day. Visit the house made famous by Lord Byron or just look out to sea at the rock formations along this rugged coast. All is carefully thought out and planned for a wonderful day trip.
