Overview
Explore and marvel at Portugal’s most important monuments classified as world Heritage sites by UNESCO, the Monastery of Alcobaça, and the Monastery of Batalha.
What to Expect
Obidos: This wonderful city of Portuguese kings traditionally gave their brides as a dowry, so Obidos is considered the city of the Portuguese Queens. It is elegant and cozy, romantic and so small that it looks more like an old box with cute trinkets, than a city fortress. The famous liqueur "Ginja", served in chocolate cups is astoundingly tasty.  Also, why not visit the annual "Festival of Chocolate" and also the celebration of The Middle Ages festival.

You will see  2 of Portugal’s most important monuments classified as world Heritage sites by UNESCO, including The Monastery of Alcobaça, and the Monastery of Batalha.
Linked to key episodes in Portuguese history, these exquisite monuments combine various architectural styles.

The oldest, the Alcobaca Monastery was founded by Portugal’s first king, and pertained to the Order of Cistercians, which played an essential role in Portugal’s agricultural and cultural development.

The Batalha Monastery - a masterpiece of late Gothic architecture - pays testimony to affirmation of Portuguese independence against the powerful Kingdom of Castille.

Then it will be time for lunch  at the fisherman  town of Nazare, where there will be fresh fish and seafood delicacies in abundance.
