Enjoy a half-day private tour of the city of Lisbon and visit some of its most interesting landmarks and monuments. See the traces left by the Romans and Moors that once occupied this area and ride through its historic neighborhoods as well.
What to Expect
Begin your private 5-hour city tour with a visit to the Edward VII Park, and take in the views over central Lisbon.
Continue along to some of the city’s main streets and squares, including Restauradores and Rossio squares, en route to the Cathedral.
Lisbon’s Cathedral is the oldest church in the city, built in the 12th century in one of the oldest quarters, where a mosque once stood.
For sweeping panoramic views of Lisbon and the Tagus River, stop at the Graca or Our Lady of the Hill belvederes or even St. George's Castle, built atop the hill where Lisbon's first inhabitants settled.
Moving to the west part of the city you’ll pass Trade square, once the main entry to Lisbon, followed by Chiado, the most cosmopolitan district and also at one time one of the most chic areas of the capital.
Your next stop will be in Belém, an important historic district. Enjoy a break at the Pastéis de Belém factory, where you can try the famous pastéis de nata (cream pastry).
In this part of town you’ll also find the Coaches Museum, housing a collection of the carriages and coaches from Portugal’s history.
Visit the Jerónimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Portugal's 7 wonders. In the church, you find the tombs of the explorer, Vasco da Gama, and the writer, Luís de Camões.
See the most imposing defense fortification of the 16th century, and the finest example of how powerful and rich Portugal was during the Age of Discovery. Stop at the Discoveries Monument, featuring representations of the most important figures in that initiative to discover new parts of the world.
