Full description

Embark on a full-day tour of Fatima, Obidos, Batalha, and Nazaré from Lisbon. See the shrine of Fatima, explore the seaside resort of Nazaré, and enjoy liqueur tasting in Obidos.

Benefit from pickup in Lisbon city center, and then take a scenic drive to the shrine of Fatima. Learn more about the important Catholic pilgrimage site before going to the Gothic convent at Batalha. Admire the Manueline style of architecture typical of Portugal in the 16th century, and then enjoy a delicious lunch of regional food.

Next, visit the beautiful seaside resort of Nazaré, popular with surfers and water sports fans. See the statue of the black Virgin Mary by Saint Joseph and look at the colorful fishing boats on the sandy beach from the top of the rock. Try some of the sweet cherry liqueur known as ginja in the medieval village of Obidos, and soak up the fairytale atmosphere of the cobbled paths and small medieval houses.

The trip itself was a most enjoyable experience! We definitely got full value for our money. One thing that needs to be improved is the ability to identify the guide at the meeting point. We arrived at the meeting point 10 minutes before the meeting time and looked for a bus or minibus. We stood at the meeting point and no one contacted us. I then got a phone call from a local number, answered and did not hear anyone on the other end. After I got back to that number it turned out it was the guide and she had already traveled with the rest of the group. Turns out she was in a black minivan with no sign that the vehicle belonged to the tourism company. We had no way of knowing it was our vehicle. Eventually the instructor came back to pick us up, but it was an unpleasant experience, which could have been easily avoided if there had been some sign on the vehicle, or the instructor would have worn a shirt with the company name, or held a sign in hand like instructors at other companies do.

If your are interested in the catholic religion this tour makes sense, otherwise i would recommend just go to Nazare and Obidos directly. Unfortunately we didn’t see the huge waves we expected in Nazare, also it was a super short stop to see the view from above, i wish we went down to the village and beach to see the waves. You should definitely check the waves forecast in advance if you want to see the biggest ones. Also i wish our guide provided us more stories and information about places we saw, we felt like he was more a driver than a guide, though he was very nice (maybe one point to improve the tour), we looked up info on internet about the places on our own to inform ourselves.

It was another company, not get your guide that actually showed up for us as I didn’t read the small print. It was an good trip. The places were lovely and we had time to walk around but would of been better if the information told to us didn’t feel like I could of read it In a book. I would like to have spent more time in Nazure as it was 30mins too short
