Full description

Your exciting day will begin with you being picked up from your hotel in Lisbon before being transported to the start point of the hike, around a half-hour drive away.

The entire hike is along the gorgeous Lisbon coast and starts at the remote beach of Bicas, famous among surfers of big waves. You will follow a trail well-trodden path lined with arrows and you will stop at many stunning remote beaches along the way. On the second part of the hike, you will follow a flat surface that extends from the plateau to the west. There are some fascinating vegetation and wildlife to take in along the way and some fossil remains including ancient dinosaur footprints.

Stop to take in the incredible flowers and spot some birds and cetaceans. At the end of the hike, you will be taken back to your hotel.

This is an amazing experience for travellers with an adventurous mindset who was an off the beaten path experience. Andre is a great guide with a comprehensive understand of the flora and fauna of his country. He is also the only tour operator that offers this specific experience. It is not a traditional group tour, it is a more personal and focused activity, and the area we went to on the east coast is not overflowing with tourists, it is a hidden gem that should not be missed. The hike itself is fairly flat, but there are steep and uneven sections that you will need to be careful on. The views are second to none, and you will not find a similar experience elsewhere in and around Lisbon.

This hike was such a nice antidote to the crowds of Lisbon and Sintra. The coastline was beautiful, and there were few people around. I was glad that I brought actual hiking shoes and clothes, instead of just casual clothes and sneakers. There was a trail, but some parts were muddy and other parts required moderate climbing up and down. The description said that snacks and water were included. I brought my own water bottle because I wanted to avoid disposables. Good thing I did because no water or food was provided. I also happened to have a granola bar in my backpack. I did not book this hike for the food, but it would have been good to know that I should bring my own provisions. It would have been quite impossible to complete this hike without water.

Our hike along the west coast line was spectacular. André our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the area, he was also very flexible & patient. We stopped in a small restaurant on the road - we had a great lunch highly recommend it. The best part at the end - André showed us his favorite beach where we took a very welcome & necessary deep into the beautiful crystal clear waters of the Atlantic ocean!
