Full description
After being collected from your hotel in Lisbon, you will embark on a tour where you will visit the historical center of the city of Evora. Evora was taken by the Moors and became one of the kingdom's most prosperous cities, and you will learn all about this conquest during your tour. Following the city center, you will visit the Roman Temple of Evora, also known as the Temple of Diana. It is a Corinthian-style temple, which was built in the early 1st century AD. Following this, you will progress onward to the Bones Chapel, located next to the Church of Saint Francis. One most peculiar element of this chapel that you will learn about, is that its walls are entirely lined with human bones. After lunch, you will visit the Cathedral of Evora, a beautiful monument constructed in a Romanesque-Gothic style. Here you will also have the option to climb up to the towers to go to the roof and enjoy the amazing view of the city and the countryside. You will continue to the banks of the Alqueva river to take a wonderful stroll past the calm waters of the Great Lake of Alqueva, before embarking on a serene boat ride to cap off your day. At the conclusion of this sightseeing and education tour, you will be returned to your accommodation in Lisbon.

Excellent. Luis was very caring n knowledgeable

Our guide Luis was the best. He was so knowledgeable about the places as well as the history of Portugal. Though it was crowded he took us to the best place for lunch n to buy souvenir. During the end of the trip I left my hat back in the van which he was so kind n helpful to come back to return it. It was our best trip ever.

A fantastic experience

Our trip with Sofia and Celso was very well organised and a fantastic experience. We felt cared for very well during the whole trip. Sofia explained us a lot of interesting things about Évora, the lake of Alqueva created by a dam and Portugal in general. Évora is a lively and well maintained town, the capital of the region Alentejo. It is definitely worth a visit. For lunch we went to a very good local restaurant and had traditional Portuguese dishes for good prices. The food was excellent. After that we went to Alqueva to go on a boat. The lake is beautiful and quite curious is the so-called golden island which is called in this way because the sand contains elements shining like gold. After the boat trip we went up to the picturesque village of Monsaraz. The view from above on the lake is awesome. Altogether were very lucky about this wonderful trip which exceeded our expectations thanks to Sofia`s and Celso`s commitment. We can only highly recommend the trip.
