Overview
Discover the picturesque Arrábida region of Portugal’s Atlantic coast. On this full-day private tour you’ll visit the Livramento market in Setúbal, the secluded Sesimbra castle, the fishing village of Sesimbra, and taste Setúbal's famous muscatel wine!
What to Expect
You’ll begin your day in Arrábida with a visit to the lively and colorful market of Livramento in Setúbal, which has been in operation for nearly 130 years. You’ll see fantastic azulejos on offer here. These are ceramic tiles with hand-painted images of the history of the fishing village of Setúbal.

Next on the itinerary is a stop at the secluded and peaceful Arrábida Monastery, a Franciscan monastery that sits high in the Arrábida hills. On the way to the monastery you’ll marvel at the breathtaking views over the Peninsula of Tróia, Sesimbra village, and the Atlantic Ocean.

After visiting the monastery you’ll follow a narrow road down to Portinho da Arrábida, a sheltered cove boasting a fine sand beach and crystal clear sea waters. Continue on to Sesimbra, a busy fishing village where you’ll see a fleet of brightly painted boats.

Stop at Espichel Cape to see the first Portuguese lighthouse and to take in the splendid views of the Atlantic coast. You’ll then stop at one of the oldest wine producers in the area for a tour and tasting. Learn how Setubal’s Moscatel wine is made and visit a series of old cellars that house huge oak and chestnut wine vats.

In addition to wine, Azeitão village is also known for its tortas de Azeitão, a truly divine monastery pastry!
