Discover beautiful Cascais Bay on a 6-hour sailing trip from Lisbon. Anchor for 1-2 hours to swim and sunbathe in the sun. Bring your own food for a picnic on the boat decks, or stretch your legs to explore Cascais Marina and enjoy a bite to eat.
What to Expect
Cruise the Atlantic coast of Portugal on a full-day boat tour from Lisbon, and enjoy breathtaking views all the way to Cascais Bay and back.
Sail directly from Doca do Bom Sucesso in Belém. Upon arrival at Cascais, anchor for 1 or or 2 hours to laze in the sun. Top up your tan on the decks of the boat, or jump in for a swim in the sea. Along the way, discover a set of maritime fortifications that protected the coast between Belém Tower and Cabo da Roca.
One of them is called the "Torre do Bugio." The idea of building a fortified point in the middle of the Tagus Bar on the sandy Cabeça Seca was suggested to the king in 1571 by Francisco de Holanda. The building was completed by the mid 17th century and is an excellent example of a round Renaissance fortress. Learn how the project was entrusted to the Italian Vicenzo Casale, and later handed to the architect Vicenzo Turriano. It has recently undergone a thorough restoration.
Cruise back to the Doca do Bom Sucesso for the end of your tour services.
