The brief sojourn at Adis Ababa proved to be very interesting. As most of us, I had an image of Ethopia as an impoverished and underdeveloped African country with shanties on the roads but there were shining skyscrapers and downtown skyline matching what I had left a few hours before in Toronto ! Surpringly it was winter season in month of August! The most striking moment was to see the skeletal remains of 'Lucy' at National museum. She is the oldest homo sepien discovered till date who lived 3.3 million years ago in present day east Eithopia. In fact modern humankind originated in Africa . It was also a unique experience to go to a local house and have home cooked food and taste coffee brewed traditionally by roasting and grinding beans. I could not understand why green grassy twigs were spread all over the floor. Later I came to know that it was for decorative and aromatic purposes! The University Meuseum is worth visiting.Guide Biruk was a learned fellow , friendly & cheerful.

Our guide Wondiye was excellent. He was very courteous and professional. I was impressed by the historical knowledge he shared with us at each location as well as his botanical knowledge. I enjoyed seeing Menelik II mosoleum at Bete Maryam church. The restaurant at Entoto Mountain was great as well. Highly recommend Merit Ethiopian Experience Tours. I also like they pick you up from any location in Addis. Not everyone is staying at the Sheraton Addis!
