Full description
The meeting point is at “Terrua” coffee shop; the baristas are going to share with us their great passion for Peruvian coffee, this small taste is recommended for everybody. After coffee, there is a 15 minutes walk. The first stop is going to be in a small local restaurant to try “Chicharrones”, delicious traditional pork sandwich. Then is time for something sweet. Our friends from “Lucas”, a small local bakery, are in charge of making us try some deserts. Next stop is the local market to see some local products and try some different fruits The most popular Peruvian dish is included on this adventure! at "Maraparte" ceviche bar will prepare us a delicious ceviche, made of marinated fish in lemon juice accompanied by onion, corn, chili, etc. Here you can also try Chilcano, a long drink made with Pisco. On the way back to Terrua there is one last stop for churros in Manolo´s.

This was a wondeful, casual way to explore the neighborhood of Miraflores and visit quaint eateries where the locals eat. We got there about 10 minutes early to our meeting spot Terrua Cafe which is a cute cafe that served delicious coffee and cappucino. Miguel, our tour guide, was already there waiting for us! He had so much knowledge that he shared during our walking tour. He would stop at various spots and talk about the native plants and trees. We then visited the local farmers market where he talked about the native fruit and vegetables such as Lucama and even gave some to us to try! We then visited a local restaurant where we tried the famouse Peruvian ceviche and Chilcano (Pisco sour with ginger ale). If you would like to experience a tour that is off the beaten path then I would recommend this tour.

The tour is an absolute recommendation. For us it was the perfect start after our arrival in Lima and for our upcoming trip through Peru. Since we were the only ones booking the tour that day, we were given a private and very personal tour. The guide told us everything we wanted to know. In addition to exciting culinary, historical and social facts about Lima, our guide told us a lot about the architecture of the city, which we found particularly interesting. In any case, the absolute highlight was the local market. Many thanks to our great guide!

The walking tour was great experience for those who want to have a proper taste of lima culinary scene! make sure you start the day without breakfast or coffee as you'll need the space. You start the day with a coffe tasting in artesianal coffee shop. It gives you an appreciation of the types of coffee available and wakes you up! from there you head to a local sandwich shop, then the market to sample fresh and exotic fruits and of course cerviche! Our guide was very informative about the foods ands history and culture behind all the food products we ate and also the landmarks within the city. I would recommend to anyone who wants to sample alot of different flavours and be informed about places to eat!
