Fort Sumter: National Monument Entry Ticket & Ferry
- Valid: 1 day
obtaining tickets online was easy/simple.... the site gave an address for the ferry but the info was limited about what you actually do once you're in the neighborhood - parking info and a map of where to park - cost - and how to actually get to the boat from your car would be helpful. You need to arrive early if you wish to view the exhibits in the terminal, can't do it it after the fact - wish we knew this....we're just-in-time kind of folks.... :-) you need to add 30 mins to the time on the fort - it's too short to listen to the ranger's pitch, then walk the grounds, read all of the displays, and take moments to close your eyes and be one of those men manning the fort and try to sense what they did going through such trying life moments.... [you can't imagine unless you've seen red balls of fire....but try....]
The trip to the fort was pleasant. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. However, due to confusion with your web site, we were not able to watch the flag raising at the fort. Nevertheless, the person getting us on board the ferry was wonderful in accommodating us.
Friendly and knowledgable Rangers, great ride out to Fort Sumter, awesome historical site with plenty of Information available through the rangers. Good book and gift shops onsite. Plenty of time to see it all.
Felt we were rushed through and due to shop only allowing a few in at a time, people weren’t able to buy souvenirs (ran out of time). Seems we were barely on the island an hour.
Enjoyed the ferry over to Fort Sumpter. When arriving and listening to the guide regarding the history of the Fort and watching the flag wave. So grateful we live in the USA
