Rincon de la Vieja: Private La Leona Waterfall Hike

This was by far the best tour in Costa Rica! Jose was amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable. We brought our whole family including our 7 year old and Jose helped her on all the hard parts. The waterfall was breathless! Highly recommend

This was a fun, adventurous hike that was definitely worth the price and wasn't too difficult for our group of 7 adults (aged 23 - 50 and of varying degrees of physical fitness.) We all agreed that this was our favorite excursion during our visit to the area! Our two guides, Alejandro and Manuel, were amazing – super personable and knowledgeable about the forest and creatures that live in it. They even took group pictures for us throughout the hike. We saw a couple of fruit bats and a snake, walked through rivers, jumped from a cliff, and swam against the current to see the gorgeous waterfall. It was a challenge of the perfect intensity for our group. Highly recommended!

I did this with a group of 7 and EVERYONE agreed...this was the best activity we did in Costa Rica!!! Book this amazing guided hike before it gets popular and prices go up. The description undersells what the activity is! If you are into an adventure, this is it. You walk through rivers, swim against currens (with the help of rope along the way). Bring good fitting watershoes or good sneakers--you CANNOT do this with slippers, the currents towards the end with definitely take them off your feet. Francisco was our guide and not only did he take university to know about the flora/fauna of this forest, he took amazing photos for our group, physically help certain members in our group (me) during some of the more strenuous parts of the trip (ie swimming again water currents...I'm a very weak swimmer!).
