This day trip of Lhasa offers you the opportunity to explore the imposing Potala Palace, Jokhang Monastery and Barkhor street.
What to Expect
At 9 am, your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby to start the wonderful Lhasa day trip. Your city tour will start from Potala Palace, the highlights of the Tibetan capital. The exotic palace has 13 stories and contains more than 1,000 rooms. The White Palace, built in the mid-17th century, provided living quarters for the fifth through the fourteenth Dalai Lamas. From the White Palace, pilgrims climb to the central Red Palace, completed in the late 17th century and packed with chapels, ornate statues, and the gem-embellished tombs of past Dalai Lamas.
Lunch will be offered in a local restaurant to taste the Tibetan food. Afterwards you will head for the visit to Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s holiest shrine, which has a history more than 1300 years old, preserves one of Tibet's most venerated images, a solid gold statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. Then you will indulge into local people to walk around the Barkhor area filled with thousands of pilgrims, shops and tea houses.
