Full description
The Aviation Museum of Kentucky promotes the state's aviation history. Featuring military, classic, and general aviation aircraft, you will discover historic aircraft, memorabilia, and training equipment. During your visit, you can admire the A-4 Skyhawk of the US Navy's Blue Angels, and a T-38 Talon of the USAF Thunderbirds. The Navy F-14B Tomcat, KyAng RF-101C Voodoo, Army Cobra helicopter, and Marine F-4S Phantom II are also on display. The museum is also home to the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame. Learn about the pioneers of Kentucky aviation like Matthew B. Sellers, first powered flight in Kentucky; Solomon L. Van Meter, Jr, inventor of the first successful backpack parachute; and Willa Brown Chappell, the first African-American woman licensed as a commercial pilot in the U.S.

We took our nine and eleven year old grandsons and they really enjoyed the experience. The two gentlemen who explained the workings of the two aircraft our grandsons actually got to sit in were so kind. The boys were able to ask questions and the docents explained everything. Wonderful experience!
