Vienna: Leopold Museum Skip-the-Line Entry Ticket

3. Vienna: Leopold Museum Skip-the-Line Entry Ticket

Visit the magnificent Leopold Museum, a unique treasure trove of Viennese Art Nouveau, the Wiener Werkstätte, and Expressionism. Visit the Leopold Museum in MuseumsQuartier Vienna and experience the most important and largest Egon Schiele collection in the world as well as masterpieces by Secession founder Gustav Klimt. Admire the impressive artworks and embark on a journey to Fin De Siècle Vienna, when artists such as Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, and Oskar Kokoschka turned the world upside down and broke away from old traditions. The new creative movement began with the Vienna Secession and presented itself in Art Nouveau. They gave the old Habsburg Empire a final flourish and made Vienna one of the hottest cultural centers of the time. The Leopold Museum also houses a variety of objects created by artists of the Wiener Werkstätte - from Josef Hoffmann to Kolo Moser - which are considered unique milestones in international design history. The modern architecture of the Leopold Museum, a light-flooded cube of white shell limestone whose color is reminiscent of the bright buildings on the Ringstrasse where you can still admire Art Nouveau, stands in strong contrast to the historic ambiance of the imperial stables. The light-flooded atrium not only offers views of and into the building itself, but also impressive and unexpected views of the city of Vienna. The museum's panoramic windows offer a wonderful view of Vienna's city center with Maria-Theresien-Platz and the Hofburg.

Vienna: Private Tour of Klimt’s Art with Entry Tickets

6. Vienna: Private Tour of Klimt’s Art with Entry Tickets

Gustav Klimt was born and died in the Austrian capital, so it's no wonder you can walk around Vienna for days trying to see everything: his "Kiss" at the Belvedere Palace, his "Beethoven Frieze" at the Secession Exhibition Hall, his "Life and Death" at the Leopold Museum. During this art tour, you will visit the three museums that house the most important part of Klimt's legacy and get a comprehensive overview of his work. Belvedere The tour stats at the historic Belvedere Palace. It is here that "The Kiss" and "Judith", the famous works of Klimt's most striking "golden period", are to be found. Here you will not only see the most famous works firsthand, but also understand the historical context and the origins of the great artist's work. Secession In the exhibition hall of the Secession, you will come face to face with his monumental work "Beethoven's Frieze". It is the only piece that surrounds the viewer on all sides - which was part of the artist's conception. Here you will merge with the art and experience Gustav Klimt in its most pure form. Leopold Museum The third stop is in the Museum Quarter. Here, the Leopold Museum houses "Life and Death". It is an exceptional painting, and in reworking it, the artist committed an important symbolic act. You will take an in-depth look at this key work, as well as the reconstructions of the lost faculty paintings and Klimt's studio. After the tour you can stay in the Leopold Museum as long as you like.

Vienna: Tour of Viennese Modernism in the Leopold Museum

7. Vienna: Tour of Viennese Modernism in the Leopold Museum

In this tour of the Leopold Museum's collection, you will closerly explore the art of Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, and Oskar Kokoschka, and get a general impression of the art, culture and atmosphere of the Fin de siècle Vienna. The first part of the tour is devoted to the art of Gustav Klimt. Klimt is an artist with a biography full of dramatic events reflected in his work. In his early works, you can admire his skills as a traditional portraitist. While looking at the reconstruction of his "Faculty paintings", you might be wondering, why they caused one of the notorious scandals in Vienna cultural circles. You learn some details which give an unexpected insight into Klimt's recognizable style. The painting "Life and Death", with which the author has not parted for a long time, changing the details of composition and colour solutions, will tell us not only about the "kitchen" of the creative process but also about the principles of the art of our time. Egon Schiele's works are often characterized as scandalous. In the collection of the Leopold Museum you will see his exhibitionist self-portraits, still lifes, urban landscapes, whose space is built not on a topographical but on an emotional principle. Schiele is the perfect artist to illustrate the connection between the creative act and the movements of the soul. In the Leopold Museum exhibition, you will see the paintings by Oskar Kokoschka and find out on what basis this extraordinary artist claimed to be able to "paint a portrait of the soul" of his portrait subjects. Klimt, Schiele and Kokoschka are three names of the Viennese art scene of the early 20th century, whose works concentrate the concepts and images of a complex andexiting period of fractured eras. A tour of the Leopold Collection allows you to understand and experience the intriguing interweaving of ideas and personalities that shaped the consciousness of their time.

What people are saying about Leopold Museum

Overall rating

4.4 / 5

based on 4,500 reviews

Overall the pass was a wonderful option allowing us to decide what to see and when. The staff was wonderful and very helpful and provided some ideas on getting around which attractions were close to each other. The only thing I would say is make sure on day of arrival get there early to get your pass. We got there the day before but about an hour after 12 so we could not get our passes.

If you’re visiting Vienna and interested in quite a few attractions and various locations, I would highly recommend getting this pass. The hop-on-hop off bus included has three different lines, including one that takes you out to Schönbrunne. In this regard, utilizing the bus tour and pass saves you on entrance and transport fees, which can add up quickly.

This is great to get around Vienna, be aware of the discount benefits to avail the card to the most benefit. Some restaurants have 5-10% discounts.

We were able to visit lots of historic bluidings, museums and palaces very easily which gained us a lot of time and it was very worth!
