Mauritius: Le Morne Mountain Guided Sunrise Hike and Climb

1. Mauritius: Le Morne Mountain Guided Sunrise Hike and Climb

Walk up Le Morne Brabant mountain, one of Mauritius' most popular attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site led by a certified climber as your guide on this small-group tour. Meet your guide at the Slave Route Monument (Le Morne Public Beach) for a safety briefing before you head to the entrance of the mountain. The first section of the hike will be through the luscious rainforest. Make sure to keep an eye out for the phenomenal and rare endemic birds, and plants. Watch the golden sunrise and listen to the birds chirp as you climb up the mountain's four rock-scrambling sections. Along the way, your guide will tell you historical stories about Mauritius' past, and the significance of this important mountain. Pause at the famous Trochetia Boutoniona viewpoint, named after the island's national flower, for some healthy snacks. Take a moment to admire the breathtaking panoramic views surrounding you. Next, arrive at the 470-meter-high summit and try not to let your jaw drop too low as you see the intense beauty and nature Mauritius is so famous for. Snap a few well-deserved photos before heading back down the mountain.

Initially we wanted to climb the mountain ourselves. After doing some research about the climb, I decided to go with a guide. That turned out to be a very good decision! Kevin is a super enthusiastic, friendly man, who has an eye for everyone and looks at the group when, for example, a break is needed. Part of the tour also involves a bit of climbing (we were beginners and it was doable, although out of our comfort zone). Kevin guides you well, shows you how to do it and where to put your hands and feet during the more difficult parts. Besides guiding us very safely from bottom to top and back again, he also told us a lot about the country, what we saw from above and about nature. He knew how to answer absolutely all questions. During the ride he also took many photos and videos of the group and individuals with his own phone. He even climbed into the craziest places to take cool pictures of us. It was really a great experience!!!!

A great activity that is worth every drop of sweat. I would do it again and again and recommend it to others. The guide, Kevin, was very experienced and professional, so you felt safe even in difficult places. A hotel transfer can also be booked. The particularly early climb up to the mountain is highly recommended, as it is then almost uncrowded and you are only in a small group at the viewing point. That was great! You should know that the second part of the climb in particular is very steep and from then on you are almost just climbing. If you are afraid of heights and have little strength in your arms and legs, you should not take this tour. In general, it was a great experience for me personally and even as a solo participant you quickly find a connection with the group. 10/10 points!

It wasn't my first time on the hill but it was my first guide this good. Very nice, very educational.! Thanks Kevin.!

I highly recommend. It is better to be well accompanied on this type of trail, we felt very confident with Kevin.

Great hike, I highly recommend, especially the sunrise. Don't hesitate, the guide is great!!
