This was an amazing experience to do whilst in Mauritius and I highly recommend to anyone into hiking/ climbing. It is definitely challenging and you need to be of good physical fitness to complete but worth it for the views. We did the sunrise tour which set of around 5.30am and the sun rose as we were walking. The advantages of this is that we were the first people of the day to reach the summit. Le Morne can get quite busy later in the day which I can imagine isn’t pleasant. Our guide was Kevin who was fantastic from start to finish. I wouldn’t recommend doing this hike without a guide as there are some areas which are quite dangerous. Kevin provided us with snacks, gave us the history of the island and the story of Le Morne which was really interesting.

We really enjoyed the sunrise hike to Le Morne. The last sections are quite challenging and require rock scrambling but with Kevin there it was fine. The views are spectacular, especially from the top where you get panoramic views framed by the early morning sun. In addition to the hike, Kevin also shared lots of information on nature and history of the rock which was really interesting. Would definitely recommend this trip for adventurous people.

I had a fantastic morning hiking up Le Morne with Kevin. He was an excellent guide and his knowledge of the island and it’s history was excellent. The hike was not too difficult, with only short stretches requiring a scramble. The hike took roughly 2 hours up to the top and the views were incredible all the way up, especially at the top! Would definitely recommend for anyone considering doing it!
