The event was lovely! We had time to enjoy the cafe before the tour started and watch the previous tour end with yummy bread. Our group was quite large but we all were able to feel the hot soil when our guide dug up the warm lava bread. She offered anyone a chance to dig also! We felt the steam rise up from the soil and smell the newly opened pot of 24 hour bread - delicious smell! We watched our guide cut the bread and steam rose again. We learned about the Icelandic butter (salted) and the smoked trout that came from the nearby lake. The lava bread came with a recipe and a bit of history on this ancient cooking method. It's a short event and you can also dip into the geothermal hot springs and sauna on the premises.

We were very glad that we decided to participate in this bread experience. The guide was sincerely happy to share information about the history and culture of Iceland. The bread was delicious! We went back to the hot springs in the evening and got to enjoy the northern lights during our soak. This tour was a lovely experience.
