Even before you hit the water, the fun begins as you and your guide descend 1,100 feet down the Lower Portal Road, the only road to the base of Hoover Dam. The lower you go, the higher this mighty dam towers above you.
We provide a short safety briefing and basic paddling instruction to help newcomers get acquainted with their kayak. Then the adventure begins for real as you push off into the Colorado.
Your guide will show you unique, hidden places such as Gold Strike Canyon, Lone Palm Canyon, Arizona Hot Springs and Emerald Cave. You may see bighorn sheep, bald eagles, coyotes, red-tail hawks, turkey vultures, striped bass and other wildlife.
Remember to wear a bathing suit for soaking in the natural hot springs. Your day will also include a picnic lunch on a secluded beach or rock that will provide you with a view you could hardly imagine. Paddle into Emerald Cave and check out the historic catwalk.
The journey ends at Willow Beach, where an air-conditioned shuttle will transport you back to your hotel.
