Full description

Rio Lagartos is a small fishing village in a Nature Reserve; one of the natural treasures of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Here we can enjoy a boat tour through its water canals surrounded by mangroves, where you can observe a variety of species of birds such as pink flamingos, herons, eagles, seagulls, pelicans, and cormorants. During the tour, we pass under the bridge of Las Coloradas in bike (Depends on avalablity) to get to the salt deposits where we see different bodies of water involved in this process, some of which an eye-catching pink. Following, we will rejoice in the Mayan Bath, covering the body in nutrient-rich clay. Next, we’ll be heading to an unspoiled beach to remove the clay in the crystal water, where we will enjoy ourselves with the tasty local fish-and-shellfish-based food.

The itinerary is very well designed, they were very punctual and the guides are very friendly. The food was simply DELICIOUS, a very fresh ceviche and well accompanied. José, our main guide, was very attentive to the needs of all the tourists and was in charge of introducing us to the Mayan culture even though it was not the focal point of the tour. All details and instructions were given in both English and Spanish for more than 10 hours. Special mention to Mrs. Flor, who was our guide in the salt mine and did her best to give detailed explanations and ensure that we had the best photos. I would like to be able to contact Mrs. Flor, since I agreed to transfer her tip, but my phone was damaged and I lost all the data. I don't know if you can help me with this. Super recommended!

Prepare to be on a very small crammed bus for 4.5 hours to get there. Then eat at a small restaurant which Was clean and a great atmosphere but the food was a massive let down it had no taste and I feel was very westernised to fit tourists but we wanted to taste authentic Mexican food. After over 5 hours of travelling you get to the boat trip section, we were out for less then 2 hours on the boat, we saw 1 crocodile and some flamingos. We did the clay bath out of a bucket handed to us by a guide. On the drive back in the back we saw another group on the actual clay beach having an authentic amazing time rather then from a bucket on the sand. Then just back to another 4 hour bus ride home. Very small crammed bus but air conditioning was good just no space. Around 8.5-9 hours on a bus and less then 2 hours in the water and on the boat. But still overall a good experience

I would recommend this trip so much. The whole day was so well spent and organised. Tou have plenty of time at the pink like for pictures and also the boat ride is long so you can see flamingos and crocodiles and then you go to swim and you fibish the day with lunch which was also good. Dont have to bring any food with you cause tou get a lot during the ride in the bus for free with also drinks. Super good day for relax.
