Highly recommend this tour if you want an adventure off the beaten tourist path. The guide who spoke very good English and fisherman were both excellent. We learned to net fish from a long wooden boat then roasted the fish for lunch on a beach. Just my husband and I, our guide who was also a fisherman and the fisherman on the boat. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

An extremely rewarding and local experience! We got to learn about the local way of fishing on the Mekong River. Our guide Loon was friendly and humorous! The boat fisherman, San, prepared a bunch of fish we caught in a delicious chili marinade. We all ate on the beach and drank rice liquor! A truly memorable day!

Full description

Depart your hotel 8:30 Am for the short transfer to the boat jetty where you will begin your fishing. Enjoy a boat ride along the Mekong, soak up the Mekong riverside scenery: villages, local fisherman, and mountains carpeted with thick green forest. Stop en route at the spot where local Fishermen fishing every day, you will learn the fishing method that passed on for many centuries. Whilst you’re observing the fishing, the grill-fish picnic lunch is well-prepared by your guide and Fisherman. Feast your delicious grilled fish lunch with the Fisherman and your companions on the riverside beach. After lunch, enjoy your boat cruise towards Ban Sing where you will travel by Tuk tuk to return to Luang Prabang, stopping as you like for photos of countryside and villages. Arrive back at your hotel in the afternoon.

We recommend this tour 100%! Xang, our guide spoke excellent English and share his knowledge freely… we learned so much. We loved being with the local fishermen on the Mekong.. they showed us how they fish and explained how important this is for their family. They cooked the fish over a wood fire on an isolated beach populated with a peaceful family of water buffalo. It was a truly magical and memorable experience ☺️ 🐠
