Luang Prabang: Hmong Batik Art Workshop

Learn to draw the ancient Batik Art of the Hmong Hill Tribe people of Laos at a workshop with a master Hmong Batik artist. Create your own beautiful Hmong batik art that you can take home as a memory of your trip to Luang Prabang. Use traditional Hmong Batik tools and learn the meanings of the ancient Hmong Hill Tribe symbols while enjoying the relaxing and fun activity of drawing the batik with natural beeswax on high-quality hand-loomed Hmong hemp fabric. Once your batik drawing is completed, do indigo dye for your batik and experience the natural indigo dye process. The master artist will continue the indigo dye process to achieve a deeper blue color and boil the wax away to reveal the beautiful design that you have drawn. Once dry, come pick up your finished piece and enjoy seeing the pattern that you drew with the lovely blue color of the indigo dye. Take your art home to use in a sewing project, such as a pillow cover or tote bag, or simply hang it on the wall.

Living Land rice farm activity was really great, a highlight! Waterfalls definitely worth seeing. However, a few negative points: Guide did not make it on time because of hang-over; program mentioned buffalo ice cream on the way back but this just got skipped - instead we were led through a village on a little path literally filled with shopping / selling stalls, to such an extent that we couldn‘t even see the village, the sole purpose being a 10-minute sales pitch, really too much of it.

This was a great trip. Tid our guide was very knowledgeable and explained in great detail all the information on the caves history. We had a brilliant lunch looking at at the Mekong river, my wife’s dietary concerns were well catered for. The falls were spectacular and we found a quiet pool to swim. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable trip. And of course 5 stars to our driver too

This was an amazing experience my girlfriend and I had. The business owner was very nice and attentive and it really showed how much he cared about his craft. I surely recommend this outing to anyone visiting Luang Prabang. Our batiks came out beautifully and will now be hung in our home. Thanks again to the owner who made this experience amazing!
