Dogliani: Tasting of 7 Wines in the Heart of the Langhe

Dogliani: Tasting of 7 Wines in the Heart of the Langhe

We always start with the tasting of our 7 references, during which presentations are made and we all sit together to taste the wines accompanied by some typical local products. We tell the story of the wine you are drinking, how it was grown, when it was still grapes in the vineyard, and how it was processed in the cellar. Meanwhile, the dishes also arrive, within which you can find numerous typical local products, each to be paired with a different wine. We start with the Roero Arneis, the only white among the reds, a fresh and fruity wine: it is accompanied by tuna sauce. We then move on to red wines with Dogliani, which we usually pair with salami. First the Dogliani DOCG "Sambù", an easy to drink and light wine, which introduces the Dogliani DOCG "Superiore", more structured and complex. Nebbiolo and Barbera are paired with lard and bacon: the former is fresh and young, the latter is soft and fruity. Subsequently we will taste the Langhe "Excelso" blend of several wines to be tasted with meliga pasta (typical Piedmontese biscuit). And then the last but not least wine, the king of wines, the wine of kings: Barolo, to be tasted with cheese and cugnà (halfway between jam and sauce, it is made with fresh fruit and dried fruit ). After the tastings, we move to the cellar, where you can see how we work to create the wines you have just tasted: fermentation, the decanting and aging tanks, and finally the bottling and labeling phase.

We enjoyed the truffle hunt with our two dogs, Pina and Maya. Pina was a 6-year-old veteran, and Maya was her granddaughter, who was learning by following her like an apprentice! We could see the process of the dogs finding truffles, and with the help of Mariana, who participated as an English interpreter, we were able to easily talk to Bruno, the truffle hunter. They were both very friendly, and Bruno was an expert in truffle hunting. In addition, we were able to find more than 10 large and small truffles today. We could touch and smell the truffles we picked. It's a secret that Maya ate some of the truffles we found today. LOL! Although it's not in the description, we were able to rent boots and walking sticks, and after the tour, we were treated to a simple breakfast (cheese, salami, wine, and apples). The fantastic view of the Alps on a nice day is a bonus. If you're interested in truffle hunting, don't hesitate and join the tour!

Very informative Very sweet Young Lady. Great wines and food, Beautiful setting. One friend kept asking about how long you can keep wine and she advised him. However it was when she said, " why, just drink the wine" That I thought how wise she was. Life is short enjoy it . Her attitude was infectious.

Margarita, our guide was very nice, explained us all about finding truffles, about the required conditions, the way dogs are being trained to find the truffles. The dogs found number of black truffles and number of white.

It was a lot of fun, the people managing the whole thing were amazing and super friendly - would definitely recommend it

I love it! Unforgettable experience! We found even the white truffle and I was presented with it after the hunting!
