Franz Josef Glacier: 2.5-Hour Lake Mapourika Cruise and Walk

There’s many stops throughout to discuss the rainforest and the conservation. There’s a couple of set handlines and walking poles available if you require them. The track itself is 400 meters, and if often only enjoyed 1 way (you’re skipper will pick you up at the end). For any other questions about the guided walk, feel free to contact our friendly team!

Very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Because it was raining it made the forest and surrounding mountains very atmospheric. The temperate rainforest was very special and we were followed all the way by a little black fantail. We also saw Heron, ducks and white fan tails. A fabulous experience.

Both of our guides (Nicola & Sydney) were excellent. Very knowledgeable, & extremely friendly. The boat ride out over the lake in the sunshine was a great way to start the day, & the short walk through the rain forest was extremely enjoyable, especially for me as a birder!

Great fun. Kurt was a terrific guide. Went to places on lake we would not have discovered on our own. Learned about history of the lake, plant and animal life.

We really liked the information provided by our guide Nicole. Can't think of anything to improve the experience.

Some of the ticket money is put towards saving the kiwi birds
