The tour itself was a very long day. I was one of the first pick-ups (07.00). The coaches are always on time, and will only wait 5mins max. It's another 3 hours before a comfort break, then onto Chania. ( about another hour ). Once there the guide advises the main areas of interest, and pick-up point. the guide then turns you loose at your own leisure. Be very mindful of the inclines. They can be steep wherever you are. onto Lake Kournas, which is very peaceful. The lake area is very nice and relaxing. you leave the coach at the top of the Hill and make your way down to the waters edge. There are many shops and eateries on the way, should you choose them instead of taking to the lake ( or even both ). The Lake itself is by pedalo type boat, and starts at 10€ for 2x persons. If 1x person the same 10€. After the climb back to the coach it's onto Rethymno. once again the guide briefs you, before again turning you loose down by the harbor. Smaller than Chania. and very nice. then home.

I really enjoyed the trip. We started from Malia beach. The journey took us along the coast to Rethymno. We had a short stop there for about 1.5 hours and were able to explore the town on our own. We then drove to Chania. We visited the old town and the harbor during a stop of about 2.5 hours. Both cities are really worth seeing, and this trip is perfect for a quick look at the cities. However, you need more time to explore the areas in more detail. At the end of the trip, we drove to Lake Kournas (about an hour from Chania). The picturesque setting, away from the hustle and bustle of the two big cities, rounded off our trip. Then it was time for the long journey home. Our bus driver and Maria, our friendly tour guide, were very friendly. Maria also gave us some information about Crete during the trip that we didn't know before. Thank you very much for an eventful day. :)

I liked that the guides weren't too fussy and we had a lot of free time. The roof was leaking on the bus.
