It separates two national parks: Nahuel Huapi, in the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén, Argentina; and the Vicente Pérez Rosales in the province of Llanquihue, Chile. The name of the hill is due to the noise that is produced by the frequent detachments of ice in the glaciers, similar to that of thunder. During this tour, Lake Mascardi is bordered again along its west coast, until reaching the Isla Corazón viewpoint. Further on, you will pass in front of Cerro Los Emparedados and border the upper Manso River until you reach Pampa Linda, from where you have one of the best views of Cerro Tronador. Paddling Moreno Lake with Andy was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. The clear waters and mountain views made for a stunning ride, and Andy’s easygoing guidance kept things fun and stress-free. He shared mate, Argentina’s local tea, and kept us entertained with stories about the area. A cool highlight, he pointed out an old coot nest tucked in the reeds, a small but fascinating glimpse of local wildlife. If you’re in Bariloche, this is a must-do. Great guide, amazing scenery, and a truly peaceful way to experience Patagonia.
