The journey there is quite rough and you should be prepared for nausea. However, the crew is prepared for this and helps where possible. The return journey is much calmer. We spoke to fellow travellers from Cairns and they said that the snorkelling area is particularly suitable because it is very safe due to the lagoon location. You get straight into the water from the ship, and flippers and snorkelling masks are provided. Wetsuits could have been rented for 10 AUS, but that was not necessary because of the great weather. After the wonderful snorkelling experience (around 3 hours), we were taken to the island in a glass-bottom boat. During the trip (around 45 minutes), the skipper found the turtle hotspots precisely, so that we were able to admire them in large numbers. Afterwards there was a guided and informative tour of the island (around 45 minutes) and then we went back to the ship and on the return journey. The food was really good too!

This was a GREAT tour for the great barrier reef if you don't want to go all the way up north. It was beautiful, the reef was amazing and the tour company was professional and kind. We had a great day!
