What people are saying about La Paz

Could have been a disaster but it was great! All the streets were blocked and secondary roads had been dug up with a backhoe! Welcome to Bolivian peaceful protest (a bloqueo). Many tours never made it out of La Paz. Thanks to our knowledgeable, intrepid and highly skilled driver, we made it out to the expressway on dirt roads with no signs. The detour took about 3-4 hours. Then we made it to every sight promised! We had guide Juan, a gentle soul educated at university in tourism and a native Aymara local full of knowledge of the geology, customs, plant life and history. This tour made a huge impression on us, for the beautiful sights on this tour, for our guides who persisted in getting us to our destinations come hell or high water, and for witnessing Bolivian activism.

We had a wonderful time on this 5 day experience. The first and last day are really just the overnight bus to/from Uyuni. The bus was super comfortable, more so than airplane seats, and they give you a blanket. The three day tour was really fun and interactive. Everything is taken care of from meals to lodging (and even wine!). Our guide Israel was the best! Our kids wanted to stay longer. The accommodations are very basic and cold at night with no heat, but the blankets kept us all super warm at night. Highly recommend booking with Joker Expeditions and Jose. Super GE was t service!

The tour was a lot of fun. Although you sit in the car for a long time, you can see a lot and the nature is really breathtaking. You definitely need very warm and windproof clothing. Our guide Eddy was great. He speaks good English and likes to tell interesting stories from time to time. He loves nature and explained a lot to us. I definitely recommend the tour!

a lot of driving but an amazing and knowledgeable guide and a beautiful experience! Basically had isla del sol to ourselves for a half hour of exploring!

Alvaro explained everything to us very well. What a personable tour guide. We spent a wonderful day. The tour and Alvaro are highly recommended.
