Boat ride was great. The road is hardcore, but the driver is experienced so I felt safe. Short ride to the Lake, nice Lake ride, and than about 1,5 hours of MadMax. I think it's the best option to travel this route.

It was a nice way to travel with great views and no waiting after the boat journey finished. There were a few buses there but managed to get on my bus quickly 😊

Depart La Fortuna and travel to Lake Arenal by van. Then, take a 30-minute boat ride to the town of Río Chiquito before continuing to Monteverde by van. For departures from Monteverde, travel to Lake Arenal by van. Cross Lake Arenal on an enlightening 30-minute boat ride to the earthen dam, and then continue to La Fortuna by van for drop off at your hotel.

Great way to transfer from La Fortuna to Monteverde. It was a smooth pick up at our accommodation in La Fortuna to Lake Arenal (approx 20-30 minutes). We got on the boat fairly quickly and rode for about 30 minutes on smooth water. It was beautiful and serene. We got off at another point on the lake then hopped onto a bus that was already waiting for us and dropped off about 1 hr 30 minutes to Monteverde. We went during low season so we were the last to get picked up in La Fortuna and first to get dropped off in Monteverde. Timely and low stress transportation.
