Your tour begins with a pick-up at your Arenal Volcano area hotel. Take a short drive to the beginning of the trail, which leads you up to the dormant Cerro Chato Volcano.
Enjoy an extreme 4-5 hour hike through primary rainforest. Along the way your naturalist guide will teach you all about the plants and animals that live in the area. Upon reaching the top of Cerro Chato you will be able to appreciate the scenery at Crater Lake. Bask in the sun and take in the emerald green colors of this 1600-foot wide lake.
If it's clear, you'll get impressive views of the great Arenal Volcano and San Carlos Valley as you begin your descent. Along the way down, take a short but steep hike to see the beautiful La Fortuna Waterfall, which spills 200 feet into a clear river. Here you can go swimming in the river before continuing your descent back to your hotel.
