Whether you are starting off from Mahé or Praslin islands, you will be cruising the crystalline waters on board the island’s community ferries to La Digue, where you will experience some of the most memorable and authentic island living moments. La Digue is yours to explore guide-free and at your own pace for the entirety of the day. Hop onto your bike to begin your adventure, and allow yourself to be open to all the surprises that you may find right around the corner, such as an unbothered land tortoise causing some mid-morning “traffic". You can choose to visit many of the island’s attractions, such as L’Union Estate, home to the cemetery of the original settlers of the island. Attractions include a traditional copra mill, giant land tortoises, an old plantation house, and the picturesque Anse Source D’Argent; famous for its huge granite boulders and clear turquoise water.

Transfer vom Hotel zur Fähre und zurück hat super geklappt, auch die Fährverbindung war gut organisiert. Fähre ist aufgrund der Geschwindigkeit (High-Speed, ca. 50 km/h) bei leichtem Seegang etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, nichts für nervöse Mägen. Ankunft beim Fahrradverleih ca. 10 Uhr. Da die Rückgabe bereits um 15:15 erfolgen musste war das Zeitfenster schon recht klein. Die Landkarte die wir zur Orientierung auf der Insel bekommen haben war ein schlechter Witz, da verfährt man sich eher als das man irgend ein Ziel direkt findet. Wir haben die Zeit im Union Estate Park verbracht, dort im Old Pier gegessen (sehr zu empfehlen) und waren dann noch am Source d’Argent. Größter Kritikpunkt: Die Leih-Fahrräder sind teilweise in nem desolaten Zustand, bei unserem war die Gangschaltung defekt. Wurde dann ausgetauscht, aber hat uns noch ne Std Wartezeit gekostet. Wenn man die Insel komplett erkunden möchte, reicht dieser Ausflug bei weitem nicht aus.

It was a very enjoyable day It started very early in the morning. The pickup time was 6:20. At about 9:30 we arrived to La Digue and got our bikes. At first my wife bikes were out of order, we returned to the station and replaced them quickly. After that we started to bike around the island. I recommend drinking coffee at Patatran Village Hotel, the view from their balcony on the beach is amazing. The rest of the day we did snorkeling at anse source d'aregent. What a beautiful beach. One of the most beautiful in the world. Bring the snorkel and mask with you.

De dagtrip was goed verzorgd. Op tijd bij het hotel opgehaald en vervolgens met de veerboot naar La Digue waar je de fiets ophaalt waarna je tot ongeveer kwart over drie de tijd hebt om zelf het eiland te verkennen. Het beste is dan om eerst naar Anse Source d'Argent te gaan voordat andere ladingen toeristen arriveren. Daarna kun je rustig de rest van het eiland bekijken en andere stranden bezoeken. Ben ook bij het park Veuve geweest maar daar is niet veel te zien. Ook de terugreis naar het hotel was goed geregeld.
