Full description
On this 5-hour football tour you’ll head to La Boca, a southern neighborhood of Buenos Aires where Argentine football was born. The first stop is La Bombonera, the mythical Boca Juniors stadium. You’ll only need to take a look at the surrounding area to see the locals’ passion for football. Inside La Bombonera you’ll visit the preferential seating area, a section of the pitch, the popular terrace that holds the mythical 12 (player number 12), the locals’ changing room, and finish in a stand that provides you a view of Diego Maradona’s box. Next stop is the Museo de la Pasión Boquense, where you’ll see images of all the footballers that ever played for the club. You’ll learn about the history and evolution of the jersey and visit the trophies room. Watch a short film about the players’ experience and see the jerseys of 2 of the greatest footballers that ever played at La Bombonera. Head to the north of the city for the second stop of the tour, at El Monumental, located in the Belgrano district. You’ll go on a sightseeing walk around the stadium to see the River Neighborhood, the federal shooting range, the access gates to the stadium, and Rivermanía, the officially licensed products shop. You’ll also visit the Museo River Plate to learn about the history of the club, its stars, and most important titles. The visit starts at the Modulo de Traslación Temporal, a kind of time machine that will take you back to the year of the foundation of the club. Tour the stadium that gives the impression of being a social club rather than a football club. You’ll see facilities that include 10 tennis courts, a training field, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and a hotel for the students and minor leaguers. There’s also a press conference room, trophies room, presidential box, preferential seats, volleyball and basketball micro-stadiums, an educational institute, and finally, the pitch itself.

Hassle free and informative

Doing this tour allowed us to avoid the hassle of working out transport between the stadia in different parts of the city. Our guide, Silvia, gave all information in both Spanish and English for our small mixed group and was able to answer supplementary questions. We skipped the queues so no time wasted hanging around.

Interesting tour of both football stadiums

Overall an enjoyable day visiting the two main football stadiums in Buenos Aires. Coming from a city with very modern stadiums this was really an eye-opener. We would loved to have been able to watch either Boca Juniers or River Plate play. The tour guide that spend the day with us was fantastic. Andrea gave a running commentary the entire day made, which made up for the very limited English commentary provided by the stadium guides.
