Things to do in Alpujarra

After being collected from Granada city center, you will be driven to 2,500 meters above sea level to the top of the Sierra Nevada Road. From here you will head to the most beautiful glacier valley of Sierra Nevada, San Juan Valley. Here you will learn how the ice has been excavating the rocks throughout thousand of years. You will also encounter beautiful waterfalls , and shiny rocks, as well as wildlife such as mountain goats, eagles, birds migrating from Africa, and insects and plants that only exist here. This hike goes off the beaten path., getting an elevation of more than 3000 meters (10000 ft) to the top of Tajos del Campanario, from where we will admire the dramatic north face of Muhacen(the highest peak in the Iberian peninsula), Veleta and Alcazaba, excavated by the largest glaciers in Sierra Nevada.Your guide knows the best secret spots in Sierra Nevada after more than 30 years hiking here. La Alpujarra is an extensive valley running across the southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada, the Mediterranean coast and the Sierra de Gador. Near to Lanjaron, the first stop, visit a miraculous place where water flows through its historic seaside resort, founded in 1843. After this stop we will continue to the magical villages of Pampaneira, where you can have a full hour of free time to explore, Pitres, and make a must stop in Portugos, in Fuente Agria (Fountain of Sourness), the crystal clear mineral waters flow through the Sierra Nevada, traditionally, this water was used by the mountain villagers in las Alpujarras for medicinal purposes due to the high concentration of minerals in the water. Visit Trevelez, the highest village in Spain and widely known for its exquisite Iberian hams, enjoy a tasting of locally made products in Trevelez. Finally continue to Bubion and Capileira, dominating from its height the valley of Barranco del Poqueira, the heart of the charming and picturesque villages, where you'll enjoy breathtaking views and a traditional lunch if you choose this option.

Reconnect with nature on an amazing e-bike tour of the Sierra Nevada National Park, and get stunning views of the surrounding landscape from the 2nd highest mountain range in Europe. Marvel at the lofty peaks of Mulhacén, towering 3,482 meters above sea level. Look for local wildlife, including the incredible mountain goats that make the rugged landscape their home. Put on the helmet we provide and get comfortable on our high-quality bikes. Start your adventure by pedaling downhill on winding roads that meander between old farms scattered along the mountainsides. Feel the adrenaline rush as you pedal at your own pace, all under the watchful supervision of your guide. Admire the stunning beauty of the mountains and ancient forests as you go. Pass through some of the charming white villages nestled in the valleys and immerse yourself in the authentic rhythm of local life.

Leaving from the city of Granada at 09:00 or meeting point in Hoya de la Mora, Sierra Nevada at 10:00 where we start the trekking tour, in winter we will use snowshoes and poles to enjoy the snow and ice and in summer only walking sticks, enjoying the views of the fertile plain of Granada, the summit of Mulhacen and the Veleta and on clear days views of the Mediterranean Sea, upon reaching the summit of the Veleta at 3,396 meters above sea level, we will enjoy a well-deserved rest with a picnic lunch and prepare for the descent. The round trip trek has an approximate time of 7 hours back to Hoya de la Mora, and back to Granada at 6:00 p.m. This adventure is adaptable according to the sportive level of each participant.

Do not forget to walk along the "Paseo de los Tristes" and visit the famous neighborhoods of Sacromonte and Albaicín, with the incredible views that it offers us of the Alhambra and Mulhacén from the Mirador de San Nicolás. Finally at the time and place indicated by the guide, we will proceed to return to the Costa del Sol.

Spend a day high in the mountains at over 2,300 metres above sea level. Walk near the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada. You will drive to this altitude by car and the walk is easy and requires no fitness preparation. You will also get to know the magical, wonderful La Alpujarra with its white towns on the slopes of the mountains. We'll stop in one of them, you'll enjoy the views, including of the sea, the handicrafts, you'll taste the local cuisine and the Alpujarra products. We will pick you up directly from your hotel in Nerja or in one of the Costa Tropical resorts.

Embark on a full-day trip to Trevélez, the highest town in the Alpujarras, and discover the ham curing process with a tour and tasting inside a factory. Have lunch at an Alpujarran restaurant before visiting the village of Pampaneira. Start with a pickup in downtown Granada and a drive towards Lanjarón. First, stop at the historic Nasrid Bridge of Tablate to gain an understanding of the relationship between the Moriscos and Alpujarra. Next, find a unique viewpoint from where you can contemplate the Poqueira Valley, the Guadalfeo Valley, and the Sierra Nevada while taking memorable photos.
